As we end our Annual Thanksgiving celebration here in New England revolving around families, friends and feasts we at the Hungaria Stamp Exchange send you our greetings. 2014 Special Issues

HUNGARIAN SAINTS AND BLESSEDS II

Magyar Posta is presenting the theme of Hungarian Saints and Blesseds through a series of stamps to be issued over several years.The 2014 issue in the philatelic series commemorates three martyrs who lost their lives as victims of the communist dictatorship. The stamps of the miniature sheet depict Blessed Zoltán Lajos Meszlényi, Blessed István Sándor and Blessed Szilár Bodánffy.The unusual feature of the issue is that, apart from the standard version of the miniature sheet, silver and monochrome editions are also being released.

Saints and Blesseds presentation book

This Special edition includes the basic block, the special silver block and the block monochrome print. The latter can only be obtained from the book and only 1000 copies of the book are printed. The Saints and Blesseds presentation book is available in our online store.

The standard version is made by offset printing. The offset printed special edition has a  silver motif which is enhanced by diffraction film and embossing, lending the miniature sheet a shiny surface. The Saints and Blesseds – Silver Edition is is available in our online store.

 

87th Stamp Day Issue – Crystal

The Debrecen Stamp Set and Booklet has been produced in honor of the 87th Stamp Day. The Booklet includes the commemorative stamp set and stamp sheet with a surcharge (overprint) to support organized stamp collecting in Hungary. The booklet also includes a special version of the stamp sheet numbered in red and adorned with polished quartz crystals. Only five thousand (5000) copies of this beautiful special edition have been produced. The 87th Stamp Day Issue – Crystal is available in our online store.

Easter Sheet

To celebrate Easter in a unique manner in the world of philately, Magyar Posta presents the passion and resurrection of Jesus in a miniature sheet of fifteen stamps. The miniature sheet features the paintings entitled The Way of the Cross by the Kossuth Prize-winning artist Erzsébet Udvardi (1929-2013) in the church of the Holy Cross in Fertőd, which were reproduced using a combination of offset and foil printing. The special Easter souvenir sheet is available in our online store.

Synagogues Sheets

In 2008 Magyar Posta started to issue stamp series introducing the synagogues of Hungary 2014 provides the seventh and eighth issues which depict the altar and internal parts of the Synagogues of Miskolc and Mád . This commemorative stamp series was produced by Pénzjegynyomda on the design of Péter Nagy, stamp designer graphic artist. The Synagogues Sheets are available in a small sheet format in our online store.

Alan Bauer, President, Hungaria Stamp Exchange. Alan is a first generation American-born of Hungarian parents who emigrated from Hungary just before World War II. He lived his childhood and completed his education in central New York State. Later, he and his wife moved to New England to start their business careers and have been there ever since.
