Hungary & The 2016 Olympic Games

168 gold, 148 silver and 170 bronze medals. That’s how many medals the Hungarian team has won since the start of the modern Olympic Games in 1896.

120 years. That’s how long since the founding of the Hungarian Olympic Committee. The Hungarian Olympic Committee was a founding member of the International Olympic Committee.

160 athletes. On August 5, 2016, about 160 of Hungary’s finest athletes will head to the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to compete in 22 sporting events.

XXXI. With the 31st Summer Olympic Games about to begin, and the anniversary of the Hungarian Olympic Committee’s founding, what better way to honor these historic events than by commemorating with the issue of stamps?
